hogh school graduate hat decorating ideas for boys
college graduation giftsHigh school graduation is such a special time in a teen's life. It is exciting and scary all at the same time. Graduation activities, parties, ceremonies, awards, and everything else seems to take over the weeks and sometimes months before graduation. If you are the parent to a graduate, the time seems to fly by faster than ever before. Finding graduation gifts (often at the last minute if you are like me) can be tricky and I have to admit that I love Amazon for last minute gifts because not only is the variety huge, but the shipping is fast. Also, I love that I can ship a gift to a graduate out of town for FREE. Postage is so expensive these day and so often cards in the mail get opened and the cash or gift cards get stolen. So, most of these ideas are from Amazon for this reason. I am all about Amazon Prime! 1. Cash or Gift Cards – yes…every graduate loves cash and they generally love gift cards. But, be a little wary of these depending on the student. Some students may use these for their future college or work plans. But, others just spend away on everything from fast food to coffee drinks to parties, clothes or just hanging with their friends. So, just keep this in mind when choosing cash or a gift card as a high school graduation gift. Also, if you choose a gift card, make sure it is to a store that they like…or a store with a large variety of things like Target or Wal-Mart. 2. Duffel Bag – One of my favorite high school graduation gifts was a set of luggage. The high school graduate may have some or they may just be using their parent's luggage. While you are at college or simply done with high school, this is the time teens head to new places with friends and maybe even on their own. Land's End and LL Bean have great duffel bags but they are a bit more expensive and they take longer to ship than purchasing something from Amazon. I suggested this to a friend looking for a gift and she explained it was a great idea because it could be monogrammed there. I laughed because the last thing my teenage boys would ever want is something monogrammed. Click on any of the pictures below to see some great and budget-conscious men's duffle bags.
3. Small Toolkit – this is something that is going to come in handy when setting up their dorm room and their first apartment. They may not be overjoyed to get it, but it will get used!
4. Insulated Cups and Water Bottles – I love these cups and water bottles and I can not imagine going back to regular cups for my coffee and cold drinks. I have tried several brands and I prefer Yeti for their coffee mugs (they just seem to stay hot longer), Corkcicle for their bottles and Yeti for their large drink cups (the Corkcicle lids are awful). These all come in a variety of colors.
5. Alarm Clock – I know I can't be the only one with teenage boys that STILL have to wake them up. There are a few cool alarm clocks out there now that can help with the process This one has a phone charger right on it and a variety of feauturesd to make sure they wake up in time.
Next, is an alarm clock that looks like a lot of fun! You have to shoot the target to turn off the alarm
Or…how about an alarm clock that they have to get up to turn off? The clocky alarm clock is loud too!
6. Noise Cancelling Headphones – These can be a LIFESAVER when dealing with roommates. My son's roommate was a snorer and sleep was often hard for him to get. If you are staying under a $50 budget, these headphones are a good option although they are only noise reducing. But, if you can spend a little more for noise canceling headphones, these Bluetooth, cordless headphones are a great option.
7. Battery Chargers – Graduates can use this useful battery charger for their phones, tablets and e-readers. Plus, it has thyree USB ports so they can charge multiple things at once or even let a friend grab a charge at the same time.
8. Digital Assistant – The Amazon Echo Dot is a reall fun and cool gift for a dorm room. The student can not only command the echo dot to play music, give a weather report, play a game, purchase a refill of something or even wake them up in the morning. Another awesome feature that I recently learned about is that you can have your echo dot QUIZ you on a variety of topics by downloading Quizlet flashcards. How awesome is that?
9. Books – there are TONS of popular books out there for graduates. Although my teenagers are not huge readers, some are and may love a book on college life. Some popular books are Naked Roommate, The ABCs of Adulthood: An Alphabet of Life Lessons, and Do Your Laundry or You'll Die Alone: Advice Your Mom Would Give if She Thought You Were Listening. 10. Personal Coffee Maker – So many teens and college kids are now drinking coffee and most do not own their own coffee pot. A personal coffee system is great because it is small and you can make just one cup of coffee. If you are staying under the $50 budget, the AdirChef Grab N' Go Personal Coffee Maker with 15 oz. Travel Mug is a great option.
If you can go a little over $50, the Keurig Personal Coffee Maker is a great choice. This was the first type of pod coffee maker I owned and it still works to this day.
I hope these ideas can help you choose the perfect gift for the male high school graduate in your life. I will post a female version of this list in the near future!
